Neil Bartlett’s ‘Stella’ Premieres to end Brighton Festival in Style!

Unfortunately for all art and performance lovers, the 50th Brighton Festival comes to a close this weekend after another fantastic year. But for those who’ve missed out on the festivities and events, don’t give us hope just yet as this weekend will certainly end in spectacular fashion.

Leaving the best for last, Brighton Festival has co-commissioned the world premiere of Neil Bartlett’s Stella. One of Britain’s most individual theatre-makers, the Brighton artist brings to the Theatre Royal a remarkable new show inspired by the strange life of Ernest Boulton – one half of the now-infamous Victorian cross-dressing duo Fanny and Stella.

Being performed this coming Friday and Saturday, the theatrical encounter uses two performers, an empty stage and a haunting real-life story to ask what it might take to truly be yourself. Described as wonderful and intense, this opening performance will allow you to catch the marvellous play before it goes on to perform at the London International Festival of Theatre. This one is simply not to be missed!
