This week, the Brighton Theatre Royal welcomes the classic Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera H.M.S Pinafore to its stage for a 5-day run. After the success of her all-male production The Pirates of Penzance, director Sasha Regan returns with another all-male production, which brings a fresh twist to the century-old comedy.
Starting today for 5 consecutive nights, the war-based tale focuses on Ralph Rackstraw, a lowly tar who falls for the captain’s daughter. This event sets off the age-old conundrum of love between the classes but with infectious tunes and beautifully constructed libretto. The production’s infectious humour and rollicking silliness is sure to change the opinion of anyone who looked down at Savoy Operas in the past. This highly entertaining version of the H.M.S Pinafore is truly revitalized in the hands of Sasha Regan!
