Mysterious Whodunit ‘Rehearsal for Murder’ Arrives at the Theatre Royal

Great whodunit stories have come part and parcel with British drama ever since the ‘Golden Age’ of detective fiction. The British public may be more divided than ever but our love for an Agatha Christie-esque thriller is inextinguishable. It gives us the chance to shut off the outside world and become enthralled in mystery and murder.

Luckily for the Brighton public, this week the Theatre Royal is home to Bill Kenwright’s new production, Rehearsal For Murder. Penned by legendary award-winning writing team Levinson and Link, the stage production tells the tale of a heartbroken playwright who assembles his cast and crew with the intention to uncover the murderer of his fiancee and leading lady Monica Welles.

The intense crime drama features heart-throb Gary Mavers of Peak Practise and Casualty fame and infamous TV villain Alex Ferns, who has enjoyed decades of acclaim with his villainous roles in Emmerdale and Eastenders. After last night’s opening night, the stage production will continue to play at Brighton’s Theatre Royal until Saturday 16th July.
