Brighton’s Theatre Royal comes to life this afternoon for the first of 5 performance of Morris Panych’s, The Dishwashers.*
David Essex leaves the Eastenders set and returns to the stage to star in this sparkling comedy which has won critical acclaim and rave reviews for its witty take on the struggles of a team of pot washers in a high-class restaurant.
Young Emmett used to frequent a classy restaurant during his time as a City high-flyer. Then the financial crisis took everything he had, so he’s back at the restaurant, but this time as a dishwasher! His new workmates include the pot-washing veteran, Dressler (Essex) and the decrepit Moss who is close to retiring from the soap-sud business. The play chronicles the Dishwashers’ humble quest for existential meaning with playwright Panych’s quirky humour and clever writing.
