Brighton is positively humming with culture at the moment. The incredible variety of Brighton Fringe has brought the city to life, with weird and wonderful shows and performances appearing in so many different venues across the city. Pinocchio, and our sister restaurant Donatello are sponsoring Brighton Fringe for the second consecutive year, so don’t forget there is a generous 10% saving at either restaurant upon production of a Fringe ticket.
Of course, the bustling atmosphere of Brighton Fringe is grabbing all the headlines during May. However, Brighton’s famous old Theatre Royal continues to showcase some of the finest theatre productions currently touring, and Catch-22 – Director Rachel Chavkin’s stage adaptation of Joseph Heller’s famous war-time satire, is this week’s Theatre Royal offering.
Set at the end of World War II, Catch-22 chronicles the madness that entangles Yossarian, a WW2 bombardier and his experiences with the irrational bureaucracy that pervaded this part of military history. Full of absurd comedy moments interspersed with dark undertones highlighting the nefarious effects of capitalism and Yossarian’s own moral dilemmas, this celebrated show begins a five-night run this evening – there are also matinee performances on Thursday and Saturday this week.
If you’re heading out to see a show this week, why not stop by Pinocchio for a delicious pre-show meal? Conveniently located on New Rd, just yards from Brighton Theatre Royal, Pinocchio is a family-run ristorante and pizzeria offering a warm welcome and a superb new menu full of all your favourite Italian classics at great value prices. We also offer 10% discount off your bill on production of a valid Theatre Royal ticket.
