Tim Whitnall’s Olivier award-winning play, Morecambe, plays Brighton Theatre Royal this evening and it is sure to be a packed house. The show appears for one night only at Brighton’s historic theatre, and for those fortunate enough to have tickets, it promises to be a very special evening.
The show is a celebration of the life of British comedy icon, Eric Morecambe, and his unique brand of comedy that made him, and long-time double act partner, Ernie Wise, the most beloved British comedy duo of all time.
The play stars Olivier-nominated actor, Bob Golding in the title role – Golding is a close friend of the Morecambe family and his performance has astounded even Eric’s nearest and dearest, displaying, as it does, a deep understanding and love for Eric’s spirit and character.
Reviews for the show have been fairly unanimous in their acclaim: The Daily Telegraph gave the show a maximum 5 stars, stating that the show was: “Pure Delight…..will bring sunshine into the lives of all who see it!” The Times, again awarded 5 stars, simply declaring the show “Hilarious!”
