April In Paris Arrives For July In Brighton

Brighton Theatre Royal is set to welcome John Godber’s April In Paris tonight for the start of a 4-night run.

The romantic comedy tells the story of an everyday couple whose relationship is under strain until Bet, played by Shobna Gulati (Coronation Street, Dinnerladies) wins a holiday to Paris for two.  She somewhat reluctantly agrees to take her out-of-work husband, Al, played by Joe McGann (Upper Hand, Calendar Girls).  However, the city of love reignites their relationship and the audience are carried along in the couple’s cultural adventure which perfectly showcases director Godber’s unique brand of observational comedy.

A heart-warming play which received universal acclaim and an Olivier nomination for Comedy of the Year when it premiered in 1992.
