This week the Theatre Royal Brighton presents a play within a play, brought to you by director Max Stafford-Clark, the original director from the shows first performance 25 years ago.
Our Country’s Good is a thought-provoking piece based on The Playmaker by Thomas Keneally. Receiving outstanding reviews from theatre-goers and critics alike, Theatre Royal present a very special show for you, and one any theatre fan will not want to pass by.
Described as a modern classic, Our Country’s good follows a group of Australian convicts in the 1780’s, who stage a play for fellow convicts, all under the watchful eye of one of the penal colony’s younger officers. Watch as the story of staging a play under such difficult conditions unfolds, giving the audience a truly memorable journey rarely matched on the stage.
Particular praise has been given to Dominic Thorburn, who plays the shows director. The ensemble cast of Our Country’s Good are a delight to watch, with several members performing two, or even three roles throughout the duration of the play.
