Mel Brooks’ hilarious Broadway musical comedy, The Producers, has arrived in Brighton this week for a 5-night run on the famous Theatre Royal stage.
With a cast that includes award-winning stand-up comedian, Jason Manford alongside TV’s Phill Jupitus and the flamboyant TV dance guru, Louie Spence, The Producers tells the story of New York producer Max Bialystock and his attempts to execute an audacious scam that will see him escape to sunny Rio De Janeiro with millions in ill-gotten gains.
All does not go swimmingly, however, and the hilarious turn of events that follows makes The Producers one of the funniest musical comedies of recent years. The show has already won three Olivier awards and an unprecedented 12 Tony awards following hugely successful runs on Broadway and London’s West End.
The show opened last night to a fantastic reception from Brighton’s theatre goers. If you’re fortunate enough to have tickets to see the show this week, why not visit nearby Pinocchio beforehand for a delicious pre-show meal?
