Brighton Theatre Royal is set for an evening of raucous comedy as self-styled Pub Landlord, Al Murray brings his hilarious new stand-up comedy show, One Man, One Guvnor to the city.
Murray, and his most famous alter-ego, The Pub Landlord have been firm favourites with British comedy fans for many years. His unique, faux-xenophobic rants and razor sharp wit have made him a master at interacting with his audience and, of course, dealing with hecklers and upstarts.
One Man, One Guvnor is typical Murray. Striding around the stage, pint in hand, offering his special brand of common-sense, no-nonsense solutions to the social, economic and political issues of the day. Perhaps, this is the secret of Murray’s success and longevity? His ability to remain relevant over two decades, always adapting his routine to gloriously lampoon the burning issues of the day. It’s not subtle, it pulls few punches, and it may be a little close to the knuckle to be to every taste, but it’s definitely polished, well-researched, and above all, very, very funny.
